Employee Benefits at Springbrook

Springbrook offers the following per year to full time employees:

Benefit/Sick Time

  • Eight Sick days, cumulative up to 180 days;
  • Benefit Time is paid time for vacations, holidays and personal time away from work;
  • Professional staff earn 25 days of benefit time per year with an additional day per year for the first 5 years;
  • All other non-education staff earn 160 hours of Benefit Time per year with an additional 8 hours per year for the first 10 years;
  • Education and Preschool staff are given predetermined days off based on an academic calendar with an additional 14 hours of personal time per year;
  • Non-exempt residential employees will be compensated 1½ times their normal hourly rate when required to work on specified holidays.

Benefit time is prorated for part time employees working a regular schedule of 18 hours or more weekly.

Springbrook reserves the right to change these benefits at any time with or without notice.

Health and Dental Insurance
Springbrook offers health and dental insurance to employees on the first of the month following the equivalent of three months of employment.

There is a minimal charge for individual health insurance coverage for full time employees. There are three levels of coverage -- employee, employee + 1, and family. We also offer “opt out credit” for those full time employees having coverage elsewhere.

Coverage is available to part time employees working a minimum of 18 hours a week on a cost-sharing basis. Family coverage is also available on a cost-sharing basis.

Springbrook also offers dental coverage for a minimal charge for individual and family dental coverage.

Section 125 Cafeteria Plan
Employees may elect to have their health and dental premiums deducted on a before- tax basis. Flexible Spending accounts can be established for health care and dependent care expenses according to IRS regulations. If elected, this benefit excludes these premiums and expenses from the taxable gross income, thus lowering income tax liability.

401(k) Retirement Plan
This benefit is available to all employees on January 1 or July 1 after completing 12 months of employment with Springbrook. Springbrook may contribute 2.5% of your compensation into the plan. Employees may elect to defer a portion of their wages into the plan with Springbrook matching the first 5%. Employees are fully vested in the plan after only 5 years.

Life Insurance
All full time employees receive a group term life insurance policy equal to one times their gross yearly wages. Employees have the option of purchasing additional life insurance coverage for themselves and their dependents through payroll deductions. This voluntary coverage is available through ReliaStar Life Insurance Company of New York.

Direct Deposit
All employees are eligible to participate in this voluntary payroll deposit program, which allows employees to deposit their net pay directly into any number of bank accounts of their choice.

Tuition Reimbursement
All full time employees with one year of service may apply for tuition reimbursement for college courses relevant to their Springbrook position. A maximum of three courses per employee, per year may be reimbursed. Reimbursement is based on the grades achieved.

Employee Assistance Program
This program is available to all Springbrook employees and their family members. The main purpose of the EAP is to help people deal with problems that they are unable to resolve on their own. This service offers personal, professional and highly confidential help. These services are provided at no cost to the employee.

Short Term Disability
This is available to all Springbrook employees for any absence from work caused by a non-work related illness or injury exceeding seven days.

Sick Bank
This program is available to provide assistance to members of the sick bank in the event of a personal or family illness where the employee’s sick time and benefit time has been exhausted. Employees are eligible to join the Sick Bank after one year of employment.

Varied Schedules
Various work schedules are available throughout Springbrook including full time (8 and 10 hour shifts), part time (14 to 34 hours per week) and substitute status (as needed basis) covering a wide variety of shifts and locations throughout Otsego County.  The Education and Preschool programs follow a regular school calendar with a six-week summer session
