Nursing Positions
The following job descriptions are provided to give applicants a basic overview of some of the open positions at Springbrook. More detailed job descriptions and/or requirements may be provided during the application process.
Registered Nurse (RN)
- Provide and supervise comprehensive nursing services and interventions to assure that the health care needs of individuals are being addressed.
- Provides continuity of medical care and services to individuals by monitoring the planning, organizing, directing of nursing activities and the supervision of nursing personnel.
- Provides for the individual’s continued health, welfare and safety by direction, coordination and supervising the individual’s medical care plan along with the implementation of all agency and OMRDD polices.
- Maintain continuity of care by assessing individuals in various settings, receiving reports on the status of individuals, assisting LPN’s and CNA's with new treatments, deciding when to call physicians, and coordinating services with other shifts.
- Responsible for managing emergency and on-call situations. This includes taking calls at home after hours and providing information to participants, relatives, employees as appropriate.
- Schedule and provide inservice training to staff according to OMRDD regulations on a variety of medical issues and concerns so that staff are knowledgeable and properly prepared to provide appropriate services.
- Keeps appropriate personnel informed by communicating information, such as complicated medical care situations.
- Current certification/ licensure by the New York State Education Department as a Registered Nurse.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Reports to RN for clinical issues
- Provides comprehensive nursing care, and warranted nursing intervention both in emergency and routine situations, as assigned by RN.
- Enacts PRN and standing orders as approved by physician.
- Ensures calm and efficient management or emergencies and disasters that may occur during scheduled shift
- Documents pertinent care according to the Springbrook Policies & Procedures including observing, recording and reporting symptoms, side effects, reactions and progress, the effects of medications to RN.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned and in whatever capacity necessary, as directed, by RN’s.
- New York State Licensure required.
