Therapy Positions

The following job descriptions are provided to give applicants a basic overview of some of the open positions at Springbrook.   More detailed job descriptions and/or requirements may be provided during the application process.

 

Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

  • Conduct assessments, provide recommendations, and develop and implement treatment plans using assistive technology such as augmentative or alternative communication and PEC’s as well as other techniques for an integrated program. 
  • Strong organizational as well as written and oral communication skills are necessary in working with individualized plan development and goals.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and compliance with applicable regulatory procedures including confidentiality procedures as outlined in Springbrook policies and therapeutic practice regulations. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of treatment practice per discipline-specific practice requirements.

  • Ability to provide the necessary training to appropriate personnel and family members toward the implementation of communication devices and programs in residential, day program, and community environments.
  • Masters degree and NYS License in Speech-Language Pathology

Physical Therapist (PT)

  • Administer assessments, evaluations, and re-evaluations of students or adults

  • In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, participate in the evaluation, planning, formulation of each individual's physical therapy program, including recording progress and collecting data as indicated.

  • Utilize and manage appropriate assistive and adaptive devices to support the individual needs.
  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants, students and volunteers as required or assigned.

  • Demonstrate an understanding and compliance with applicable regulatory procedures including confidentiality procedures as outlined in Springbrook policies and therapeutic practice regulations. 

  • Maintain current knowledge of treatment practice per discipline-specific practice requirements.

  • Provide in-service training and consultation to staff, parents, and other professional personnel regarding adaptive equipment, positioning and other intervention techniques.

  • Provide a comfortable, orderly, clean and safe environment in which effective treatment may be given.

  • Bachelors’ Degree or greater in Physical Therapy, with current NYS certification to practice Physical Therapy.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

  • Works under the supervision of the licensed Physical Therapist to assist individuals in achieving normalized movement patterns and muscle tone; improving balance, endurance and gait, using a variety of techniques including neurodevelopment training, sensory integrative training, and aquatic therapy.
  • Participates in the evaluation, planning, formulation of each individual's physical therapy program, including recording progress and collecting data as indicated.

  • Demonstrate an understanding and compliance with applicable regulatory procedures including confidentiality procedures as outlined in Springbrook policies and therapeutic practice regulations. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of treatment practice per discipline-specific practice requirements.

  • Provide a comfortable, orderly, clean and safe environment in which effective treatment may be given.
  • Associate degree from approved college program, current New York State licensure, and a minimum of one year experience is preferred.

Occupational Therapist (OT)

  • Administer assessments, evaluations, and re-evaluations of students or adults

  • In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, participate in the evaluation, planning, formulation of each individual's occupational therapy program, including recording progress and collecting data as indicated.

  • Utilize and manage appropriate assistive and adaptive devices to support the individual needs.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, students and volunteers as required or assigned.

  • Demonstrate an understanding and compliance with applicable regulatory procedures including confidentiality procedures as outlined in Springbrook policies and therapeutic practice regulations. 

  • Maintain current knowledge of treatment practice per discipline-specific practice requirements.

  • Bachelors’ Degree or greater in Occupational Therapy with current NYS license to practice Occupational Therapy and preferably certification from the NBCOT.

Occupational Therapy Assistant

  • Works under the supervision of the licensed Occupational Therapist.
  • Assist individuals in achieving program goals using a variety of techniques including sensory integrative training, and aquatic therapy.
  • Participates in the evaluation, planning, formulation of each individual's occupational therapy program, including recording progress and collecting data as indicated.

  • Demonstrate an understanding and compliance with applicable regulatory procedures including confidentiality procedures as outlined in Springbrook policies and therapeutic practice regulations. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of treatment practice per discipline-specific practice requirements.

  • Provide a comfortable, orderly, clean and safe environment in which effective treatment may be given.
  • Current certification/licensure by the New York State Education Department as a certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Music Therapist

  • Plans, organizes, and directs medically prescribed music therapy activities as part of mental and physical health care and treatment of individuals to influence behavioral and psychological changes leading to restoration, maintenance, and improvement of health and increased comprehension of self, environment, and physical ability.
  • Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team in planning music activities in accordance with individuals' physical or psychological needs, capabilities, and interests.
  • Directs and participates in instrumental and vocal music activities designed to meet an individual's physical or psychological needs, such as solo or group singing, rhythmic and other creative music activities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of treatment practice per discipline-specific practice requirements.

  • Provide a comfortable, orderly, clean and safe environment in which effective treatment may be given.
  • Music Therapist Bachelors degree or higher.
