At Springbrook’s Safe Patient Handling & Assistive Technology Mini-Conference, you will have the opportunity to learn about the latest assistive technologies, attend informative presentations, see equipment demonstrations, and ask vendor representatives first-hand questions about the latest products in the industry.

10 am – Rifton Equipment
Rifton began in 1977 as an offshoot of Community Playthings, a leading manufacturer of furniture and equipment for early childhood settings. When our designers paid a neighborly visit to a Connecticut home for children with disabilities, a therapist asked if they could custom-build a chair for one of their residents.
In the next few months similar requests trickled in, and before long designers and workers at Community Playthings were dreaming about an entirely different and new line of equipment. And so Rifton Equipment began.
Those same early years saw a growing sensitivity in society to people with special needs. Americans increasingly recognized every person’s right to be treated with dignity and respect. At Rifton, we believe people with disabilities deserve our best.
11 am – The MOVE Program
Move International is a 501©3 nonprofit organization. Move International seeks to improve overall quality of life for people with disabilities (regardless of age or cause of disability) and the people who care for them. MOVE promotes fuller participation in homes, schools, work, day programs, and community life to encourage the dignity and hope such participation brings. MOVE is a philosophy….a way of life; and proven practice that individuals with multiple disabilities can learn to:
- SIT to eat, participate in actives, education, and even employment
- STAND such as washing at a sink, food prep, and upright toileting
- WALK to move to participate in play or complete tasks (with and without support)
- TRANSITION from bed to chair, sitting to standing, etc.

ProCare Medical (Vancare SPH)
Vancare has been serving the Safe Patient Handling market with quality, American-made products for over 25 years and takes great pride in being technology leaders within the industry. Rabson Rehab Sales
Rabson Rehab Sales is a medical devices company based out of Plainview, New York. Among Rabson’s offerings are Hoyer Lifts, used for transfers when a person requires 90-100% assistance to get into and out of bed. Hoyer Lifts use a pad that fits under the person’s body in the bed and connects with chains to the hoyer lift frame. A hydraulic pump is used to lift the person off of the bed surface. Once the person is suspended in the air; the hoyer lift can be maneuvered to a wheelchair or another surface by pushing the lift on its wheels. A wheel mechanism is slowly turned to lower the person into a seated position. The pad will stay under the person, but the chains are disconnected.
Rabson Rehab Sales also offers the Chill-Out Chairs. Chill-Out Chairs assist with a wide range of behavioral and therapeutic needs.
